Our Story

She is rebel..she is rose

Jessica and Shelly, the owners of RebelRose are sisters by chance and friends by choice. They both are passionate about the beauty industry, and even more passionate about making every client who sits in their chair feel completely seen and taken care of. With over 15 years in the beauty industry here in Nanaimo, they have taken the leap of faith in building and opening their own salon here in town!

In the new space, we will be offering exclusive RebelRose events. Botox, Bubbles, and Blowouts are sure to be a hit! With the dream team of stylists here at RebelRose, the magic behind the chair will be something truly special to experience.

Shelly Bowen

*Grey Blending Specialist / Extension Specialist / Owner*
When Shelly is behind the chair you will find her building relationships with her clients and taking pride in creating a comfortable safe space for people to come to. Shelly’s passion for hair and the beauty industry started at the age of 15 when she became a makeup rep for a makeup company. Shelly’s makeup artistry has been featured in Todays Bride Magazine and will continue to do the makeup for weddings and events. Her perfectionism and 15 years of experience will leave you at ease for her to take the lead in getting you to your ultimate hair goal. She is beautiful and talented.

Jessica Kurtz

*Stylist / Photoshoot Stylist / Owner*
When Jess is behind the chair you’ll find her interacting with her clients like family. Jessica is truly passionate about hair and people! *“Where are my brunettes at?”* Let’s get more beautiful brunettes out there. She loves photoshoot work and has had her work published in Today’s Bride Magazine, and awarded for her avant guard collection. She is always up for creative collaboration and loves working with like minded artists here on Vancouver Island. Bridal hair is also a passion of hers, so if you have an upcoming wedding, she’s your girl!! Follow her on Instagram!

Jayde Morin

*Balayage Specialist*
When Jayde’s in the salon you will usually see her with a paint brush in hand. Jayde’s true love is creating easy-to-wear, low-maintenance, organic-looking color. She’s a true artist with hair and her number 1 is always the health of your hair. When not in the salon she knocking things off the bucket list. Always something new in the works, she’s a travel bug, fiercely independent and a total babe to boot. Follow her on Instagram!

Carlee Rae Acton

*Braids Specialist*
Born and raised in Yellowknife NWT Carlee found her passion for hair at a young age. Following that passion, she took a duo esthetics/hair class in high school and went on to pursue esthetics at Merle Norman spa out of high school in Yellowknife. In 2018, she relocated to the Island to build a life for herself and her son while discovering a passion for hair design and braids. Braidedbycarlee was created in July of 2021 and she continues to expand her skills doing creative braid styles! Follow her on Instagram!

FAQs

How can I book an appointment?

You can book online anytime. Just click the ‘Book Now’ link at the top of the page. Or, feel free to call our salon at 250 760 8192. If you are new here, please fill out the intake form. Our salon is 12 and up only. To ensure the quality of your experience we ask that you don’t bring any guests to your apt.

How are late/cancellations handled?

If you cancel within 48 hours before your appointment, you will not be charged. If you cancel within 24 hours, you will be charged 50%. No shows will be charged full price.

What type of products do you use?

We strive to use high-quality hair products. Our color line is called The Origin Color Nook and has amazing results. It’s an exclusive line from Italy, infused with quinoa and natural oils. Our award-winning styling product line is called eleven Australia, it’s cruelty-free and comes from natural ingredients.
